Death Mountain Ascent (commonly shortened to DMA) is a way to enter Death Mountain using Out of Bounds. This allows you to skip the Power Gloves, which you'd ordinarily need to access the cave to take you up Death Mountain.


Wall Clipping with Boots

There is an easy way with the boots to enter death montain, this way fuck up the camera and you have to enter a cave to fix that (and avoid a softlock). Since we generaly take the mirror it's not really an issue to enter the cave where the old man wait.

First we clip though a diagonnal edge and press a diag input to get teleported on another map or part of the map. Then you walk to a border of the screen to enter death montain.

There is multiple way to clip through diagonnal edge, the easier way is to press < or > and press A at the same time while holding the sword up. There is other way to do it, but you will see then on some other trick page.

Starting point and teleport

There is multiple starting point in each edge that will work. I don't know the rule for it (need to fix that)

Here two starting point that work.

You can see a "hole" in the grass under Link's shadow for the first one.


Then you must do 8 > + A input, you can count or just use visual cue for stopping that

Here you can see for example only 1 pixel of link's feet shadow that go out.


When you reach that, release B then hold >v. You will be teleported at the bottom of what you see.


Entering the cave

Move up and right a bit, then enter the right screen.


You are at the bottom on death montain, but you will not see the map properly

Don't try to enter the cave immedialty, the game will have trouble making the black hole closing transition, at best it will take forever, or just crash.

You need to make the camera scroll up (move up and down), you will start seeing the squirel and boulders but not the entrance. You can try to enter the cave now, It should be fine.
