After collecting hammer, you want to mirror out of Pod then mirror to the light world. Afterwards head towards Death mountain passing by the sanctuary. On the screen right after the sanctuary there is a tree that contains a fairy, bonk the tree and use the net to collect the fairy. Then make your way to death mountain and head to spike cave to collect the Cane of Byrna.
